Cindy Kerr is a heart friend. For the past two years, until this December, I lived in Cindy’s house as an affordable space to live while I developed a sustainable business. It’s funny how God/Spirit/Holy Spirit/the Universe knows what we need when we need it. Not only did Cindy’s home provide a safe place for me to develop my businesses, but it was also a safe space for me to get more deeply rooted as a person and to develop a very dear friendship as well.

Cindy has invested her life to the calling of empowering others. Her International, sustainably focused marketing company, CKarma, is a vehicle that helps organizations and companies get clear on their objectives and effectively reach their goals. Cindy is on her way once again to Kenya to further her life’s work, and I also believe to live even more fully out of her heart. We had the chance to do a quick photo sesh late last month in Golden. It was terribly cold out and I did a poor job of lighting the photos due to the rush of it all, but nevertheless, Cindy’s beauty shines brightly.

Andrea Ball dazzles me.

Andrea contributed her work to Luce’ last year and so we thought it’d be cool to collaborate to create some vivid, anthropology/urban outfitterish shots.  Little did I know how fun our sesh would be.  Firstly, I walked into her fabulous space where I was greeted by  2 large “Flight of the Conchords” framed posters, a teal couch, and a coffee table with a mug full of sharpened #2 pencils. (My writing utensil of choice.)  Delight washed over me! This woman has style that  most certainly shone brightly through my lens. I think she’s quite stunning.

Meeting her is an experience in itself.  Compassionate, authentic, with an incredible zeal for life, seeing life through Alex’s lens is inspiring to say the least.  A native of Mexico City, she grew up counting the minutes in her Grandfather’s dark room, which led her to get her undergraduate degree from CU Denver in Fine Art.  Photography is her way of capturing the details of everyday life as they are revealed to her, and then releasing them back to others; it’s her gift to the world. M. Scott McLean is a very talented writer, actor, and musician currently living in Denver while getting his MFA at the National Theater Conservatory. (Phew, that was a mouthful! LOL.)  With such things under his belt like 2 albums, an Independent Film (that he wrote, produced, and starred in), and having co-written “The Forgotten Carols,” M.Scott isn’t just a pretty face.  He’s entering his last year of his graduate program at the DCPA and so a new headshot was needed.  In our session I was able to capture his loving and cool nature that so clearly shines through his deep, sensitive eyes and debonaire smile.  (Yes, I’m a big fan of my boyfriend.)  Plus, we had to celebrate the rings he had made for us, (made from wood from the tree of life),  AND– we most certainly needed to try out my new 70-200/F2.8 canon lens (with image stabilizing capabilities) of course!  Anywho, without further adieu, meet the next big thing, Mr. M. Scott McLean.

A man with a beautiful soul and heart, who I really love knowing!

Early February, Nancy Clark of Blonde Productions and Unleaded Software hired me to shoot her staff photos for their upcoming book.  With her staff being creative, fun, and sophisticated, much like Nancy herself, we decided it was best to create playful shots with a bit of edge. Thanks to the openess of her staff, we got shots that spoke clearly to both the company’s personality, as well as their individual personas.
