Last month I visited Utah with Scott, my main squeeze, and on our way out of town we were able to stop by his Grandparents house to visit and to have supper with them.  Scott and his Grandpa decided to go out to pick up supper, but before they left they stopped in the piano room and played music together for a brief time.  Lots of diffused natural light filled the room in a way that made the space look like it was already a memory as they simply enjoyed their shared love of music and each other.  It was a sacred moment that I was lucky to be a part of,  so I quickly (and somewhat discreetly) ran to the car to grab my camera to capture as much of their time as I could, without disturbing it.

I am amazed by what the camera does.  Life passes by so very quickly and outside of our memories, photography is the only medium that captures the sanctity of a moment in a way that the reflects the true beauty of what is actually occurring.  I am amazed by what my profession does and I am so very honored to share my experience with you through the lens of my camera.

This past week I finally was able to meet Sadie Stein, niece to the one and only M. Scott McLean.  I was warned that she was “perfect” in every way, yet truth be told I wasn’t a believer until I met this heavenly child.  Sadie is a blend of a cabbage patch doll and an angel, and is certainly one of the most beautiful children I’ve met.  With a super sweet disposition, she just wants to be cuddled; she’s cake.

Meet the darling Sadie Stein at bath time in Heber City on Memorial Day.  A sheer delight is she.

The 10th Annual Mutts and Models is Denver’s original & premiere canine and celebrity fashion show.  On May 15th guests delighted in watching a unique fashion show featuring local philanthropists and local celebrities modeling with their dogs. All proceeds benefit Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital, Colorado’s largest not- for -profit veterinary hospital.  Attendees had the opportunity to bid  in the live and silent auctions and were able raise money for the animals in need of veterinary care at Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital.

At the end of April I experienced a joyful treat; I was able to watch the 1st year graduate students at the National Theatre Conservatory perform a movement project that featured the low flying trapeze.  Utterly A-mazing…

The NTC teaches the Skinner Releasing technique, a technique that teaches students how to release energy and feel space in movement.  A great medium to translate this technique is through trapeze.  For two hours I was emotionally moved by the beautiful movements set in various vignettes.  From laughter to tears, I sat in amazement as I experienced the universal language of movement.  Here are a few of my favorite moments.

On my last trip home to Louisiana my Uncle gave me a lovely, yet peculiar gift of a single red roll of “danger” tape.  (Yes, the kind you see at the scene of a fire.)  At first I was a bit uncertain of what to do with his thoughtful gift, and then a moment of inspiration came to me;  I’m going to wrap a model in it!   The tape gave me an avenue to explore intensity, vibrancy, adventure, and generosity.   To do so, I collaborated with stylist Anna Bahr to style model and friend Lori Auguste Sullivan, a woman who embodies all of the intentions of the shoot and more.  We all had a blast at the shoot + what we created together was nothing less than spectacular.

Danger can be fun.

Last month I had the privilege of working with Corinne Domahidy and Megan Weber of Domahidy and Weber, LLC based in LoDo of Denver.  Domahidy and Weber supports early and mid-stage nonprofits and social entrepreneurs as advocates and strategic partners, providing comprehensive legal, business and consulting services.  As a compliment to their brand, DW hired me to capture photos that displayed the approachability of both Corinne and Megan, as well as communicate their commitment to excellence and service.   Here are a few shots from our sesh in early April.

I first discovered Emma in October of 2008 when Obama was in Denver giving a speech on his campaign to be elected as President.  There was a sea of people downtown at the Capitol trying to hear what Obama had to say.  I was making my way through the masses as my eye came across Emma who was amidst the crowd with her parents and younger brother in Civic Center park.  I couldn’t believe how stunning this little girl was!  She had all the makings of a future top model.  I went up to her parents and told them how beautiful that I thought Emma was.  Shortly after we got together for a sesh before I sent her along to my modeling agency, Donna Baldwin.  Emma has done really well so far in her career as a model and will have a long and bright future in the profession if she chooses.  It was a pleasure to photograph this gem of a young girl.  Take a peek at a few of my favorite shots.
