This is the Louisiana that I love.
Open-hearted, open-handed..
And Fiesty as hell.
Peculiar, vibrant, and so very full of life, South Louisiana gave me my groove back. It carries a rhythm, a soul. Even pieces of trash being blown across the ground by the wind seem to dance to me. I think it’s safe to say that I love the place.
Though South Louisiana helped me to develop my heart and soul, what North Louisiana gave me was my imagination. Surrounded by a world that ended 30 years before I was born, I used my imagination to see how things once were, or how they might have been. Take a peek at the lost/found objects in some of the small towns of North Louisiana.
My Poppop (Granfather) owned a Texaco gas station in the small town of Arcadia for 50+ years. The above shot is where someone broke into the station– it looks as if a HS graduate broke through.. the glass shape is amazingly hilarious to me..!
The above shot is of my Poppop’s (Grandfather’s) jeep from WWII. It’s said that once he returned to Seattle from the Phillipines, he drove the jeep top down through rain, sleet and snow down the west coast and through the SW, back to Louisiana.. and he never left again.
The shots below are of my family’s land that is home to the Davidson Cattle Co.
It’s interesting what makes a person who they are. I am deeply influenced by the South and distinctly different at the same time. For better or for worse, this is my South.
I’m grateful for the medium to share my point of view.. I love photography.
