Last month I flew to Gulu, Uganda to capture the 2nd annual Women’s Global Empowerment Fund’s Drama Competition + micro-finance program at work. Women in Gulu that take part in WGEF’s program performed songs, dances, dramas and monologues depicting their struggles from their experiences with the LRA (the Lord’s Resistance Army) and daily life in Gulu. In my next blog I will share some of my thoughts and images of the women who performed during this event, but for now, I’d like to show you some members of the audience that I found to be utterly stunning. My heart is overwhelmed with gratitude even as I write this. When you see these faces, you’ll understand why these children are so near to my heart. Before you meet the children, imagine what they experienced by seeing their mother/grandmother/sister/cousin/aunt/friend sharing their heart through song, dance, and drama. If I was in the audience I know it would change my life forever. Though I don’t know for sure, I’m willing to say that these children were changed as well. Meet the next generation of leaders in Gulu, Uganda & beyond. (In my opinion of course.)

Meet Betty, I believe in a former life she was a Movie star or a Queen. She approached me with such confidence and grace, like I’ve not seen before in a 12 year old.

Thank you for sharing in this part of my journey with me.
Blessings abound. oxox.
