I’m baaaack!

After a week stint in Louisiana, I’m back in action.  I flew into New Orleans to photograph Vivek and Sruta Khempka’s family gathering.  The family flew in from India and was a most sacred meeting indeed.  More to come on that later. Since my travels, I’ve been thinking a lot about roots and becoming your own person in life.   Sometimes these two are in alignment, and sometimes they are not.  For me, I had to forge my own path.  At first I worked just to provide for myself financially, and then it became clear to me that living just to provide for myself alone just won’t cut it; It’s essential that I share what’s in my heart.  Be aware that when you do this you’ll get a variety of reactions from people.  Some people are inspired and begin to live  life from their heart space too, and there’s so much joy in sharing your unique expressions!  Others will oddly enough shun you, criticize your work inappropriately and even try to intimidate you….. as if  they really have any power at all to divert what God has put inside of you.  Often times their reaction to you is so strong because they’re blocked and have neglected their hearts’ calling and want to make sure you do the same.  (Misery loves company.)

They’ll often tell you to get in line and take a number.  Well, the way I’ve approached that is to just move past them, with one foot in front of the other.  Find mentors and people who are excellent at what you want to do, and learn.  Perfect your skill set so that you are the best that YOU can be– you are the only competition.  Collaborate and share, but don’t give your pearls to pigs.  Oh, and one more thing:  if ignoring folks who tell you to take a number or wait in line doesn’t work, just tell them to take a hike.   As you do what you know is in your heart to do, God, the Universe, Spirit, will make sure that opportunities unfold at the right moment in time that will exceed your expectations.

So! Go boldly in the directions of your dreams and live the life you’ve imagined.   Take the first step,  and the rest will take care of itself.

To be continued…. !
