Yes, I’ll say it again- this summer was in fact a whirlwind.
Not only was I busy shooting brides and weddings, but I also started my own marketing and event planning company called Current Connections. Because of Current Connections and Nancy Clark of Blonde Productions Group, I began an on-going working relationship with “Tommy the Tornado” Wright of The Wright Group as well as Denver’s Chef Daniel Young or as we lovingly call him, the infamous “Papa D”.
This summer the Mile High Music Fest hit the Denver scene with such All-star acts as Dave Matthews, the Roots, the Black Crows and many others. The Wright Group commissioned me to shoot their VIP tent, a safe haven for weary partiers to refill drinks and eat a bean burrito in the air conditioning.
In August the Democratic National Convention descended upon Denver bringing with it loyal Obama supporters as well as protesters. Though I didn’t officially shoot any of the DNC, I did host 6 parties with my new event planning and marketing company– Current Connections, www.currentconnections8.com. Overall the DNC was uneventful riot wise, except for that faithful day when a lovely protester from San Fran had a duel with the cops right in front of our party headquarters. Apparently this innocent lady was a victim of facism in Denver. She turned a corner without a blinker and was stopped by 10 policeman wearing riot gear. I personally thought they were stopping to give me another parking ticket, but was surprised and relieved when I noticed they were stopping a “riot” in a ford escort! That day is truly a moment I’ll treasure for a long while. Thank you dear lady for standing up to facism in Denver.
