I love the South- especially Cajun Country in South Louisiana, which is where I had my college experience. Though Lafayette is only 4 hours from my family’s home in North Louisiana, its a very different world altogether.
When you’re here, you’re constantly greeted with genuinely warm smiles from hilariously loving (and saucy) characters who have an incredible zest for life. They unintentionally remind you that life is in fact good, whatever the circumstances. (And hey, even if it isn’t, you’ll still have a good time laughing your worries away.) Life is made for living down here through good food, friends and family.
Community is life, Community is everything; Community is a really good coffee down here as well.
As I drive to old familiar spots, I’m in awe of the romantic beauty that South LaLa land possesses. Everything is so rich down here- the greens are incredibly vivid, the people are incredibly warm, peculiar and soulful, and the trees… well, they’re stunning. The trees express beauty, a warmth and most certainly a wisdom that is unparalled in most of the world. Lush secret gardens adorn the landscape of this place, graciously inviting you to come home and stay a while… relax. Life here is about slowing down, taking deep breathes, and experiencing what is- whatever that is. Somehow life down here teaches you that this moment really is enough.
South Louisiana means a lot to me and forever lives deeply within my heart. Its taught me the meaning of true friendship, family, and has inspired me to live life with zest. I’ve traveled extensively in my life and I’ve found that there is an openness here that is rare to find anywhere in the world. I’m so very proud of South Louisiana and thankful that it has grafted me into its roots.
Geaaaauuuuuxxxx Cajuns!
